Grass Varieties Available in Cape Town
Kikuyu Grass
Best for full sun & high-traffic gardens
Kikuyu is Cape Town's most popular roll-on lawn. It establishes fast, handles the Cape summer heat, and produces a dense, hard-wearing surface. Ideal for family gardens, entertainment areas, new developments and high-traffic residential properties across the city.
LM Berea Grass
Best for shade & semi-shaded Cape Town gardens
LM Berea is the preferred choice for shaded Cape Town gardens — under oak trees in the Southern Suburbs, enclosed courtyards, or south-facing slopes. It produces a fine, attractive lawn surface and tolerates the cooler, shadier conditions common in many Cape Town properties.
Cynodon Grass
Best for sports areas & high-wear spaces
Cynodon provides a fine, dense lawn surface suited to sports fields, commercial properties and high-wear areas. Used on sports clubs and commercial developments throughout Cape Town where a hard-wearing, fine-textured turf is required.
